Today

I was reminded just how freaking good the Mates of State album "Bring It Back" is. Seriously. Not just good, but freaking good. Like you'd want to freak out a little bit. Maybe, maybe one time I freaked out to "Fraud in the 80's" when it was on in a store. Listened to the Pop Levi and Miho Hatori Morning Becomes Eclectic sets. Not run-out-and-wake-the-neighbors good, but entertaining and original and studyable. Also a little Beirut on the bus. Looks like things are on track for some live music later this week. Woo hoo! I'm listening to this interview with Miho Hatori now. I want to have a radio show where I can interview awesome musicians and have them play original sets of music. Still, though, NPR music picker. That's maybe the top music job. The New Yorker this week has an article titled "Bag Man" by Larissa MacFarquhar about a lawyer fighting IP violations, but in his previous life he was traveling around and working with classic rock bands. Read it if you get your hands on it. 'Tis not online. I guess you've got to be careful not making your work interfere with what you love, but shouldn't you work doing what you love? But I love listening to music, not managing people involved in it. I guess I really meant a show accomplishing what I mention above but not having it be a job at all, just something for fun. I'm rambling.
