I did something cool

I was able to see a sneak preview of the new movie U2 3D. A shortened version played at Cannes, and U2 played too. There was a sneak preview a week or so ago in NYC. Apparently it was at one of the largest screening rooms in Manhattan, and it was only 88 seats! Right in the middle of Midtown, 56th and 6th, some hidden Dolby room. You had to wear special glasses, with security tags built in and a legal warning written on the inside about their use. I'll tell you what I told the screening's host: It's not a question of whether people will like it, because if you see this movie you'll like it. It's just a question of how many people will see it. It's pretty awesome. Bono in your face! And crowds so amazingly happy to be a part of it, captured with technology heretofore unseen. National Geographic is the distributor, I guess? Weird, huh. I think the official premiere is later this month at Sundance, and then theatres around the world. Damn good. I'm proud of my pledge son.

Now listening to Nic fawning over Jesca Hoop's pretty cool set, with her band and the Ditty Bops. I see Thurston in the queue. Looking forward to that. Remember that Thurston Moore/Kim Gordon show at the Black Cat, with all those other crazy bands? Yeah.
